Ulting Wick – August 2018

This was my second trip to Ulting Wick this year – you would be excused for thinking it was a different garden altogether. The change from a mecca for Tulips into a summer garden with abundant Dahlias and towering Bananas was amazing. Couple this with an array of plants available to purchase and a crowded tea barn for a drink and nibble means you can’t really go wrong. If that isn’t enough, then add in that all the money raised goes to charity, as well as that this is a private garden the owners are kind enough to allow us all in for a nose around and it is rather impressive indeed.

Recently voted second best garden in the South East area (below Great Dixter and above Beth Chatto) in Garden News Magazine’s top 100 gardens. The afternoon saw over £3500 raised and over 400 visitors – if you haven’t been yet then you should on the next open day!

On to the pictures – in total I took 128, I have selected my favourites and then broken them down into 3 galleries just to keep things sensible – one of course dedicated to Dahlias!

First up the flowers in general that are not Dahlias specifically.

This reminded me of a Protea flower (it might even be but I dont know).

Second we have the Dahlia bonanza

Loved this one with the Bee visiting

The third and final gallery is everything else I snapped during my 2 hour visit.
